State of the Nation: Uterine Cancers 2025 Report

A national roadmap to reduce the rise of uterine cancer and save lives

The State of the Nation: Uterine Cancers 2025 report is the first comprehensive national analysis of uterine cancers in Australia and New Zealand. Drawing on the latest national data, clinical evidence and lived experience, this evidence-based report explores the risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, outcomes, projections, and survivorship of uterine cancers. Importantly, the report also charts a way forward. It identifies priority actions to strengthen prevention, drive earlier detection, improve treatment and deliver equitable care, providing a national roadmap to reduce the rise of uterine cancers, improve outcomes and save lives.

Uterine Cancers on the Rise — and Why It Matters Now

Uterine cancers are the fastest-rising women’s cancer in Australia and New Zealand. Incidence has more than doubled over the past 25 years, and rates are projected to climb further, particularly among women aged between 25-44.

While early-stage disease can often be treated successfully, many women are diagnosed too late, when cure is less likely. Disparities in access to care mean outcomes are worse for women in regional and remote areas, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and Māori and Pacific women in New Zealand as well as with women from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Without immediate action to strengthen prevention, improve early detection and deliver equitable, personalised treatment, uterine cancers will continue to claim more lives each year.

Working Together for Change

The State of the Nation: Uterine Cancers 2025 report shows that tackling uterine cancer requires more than awareness. It calls for collective action across prevention, research, and care.

Progress is being made, but challenges remain: gaps in data, uneven access to specialist treatment, and the need for greater investment in research and clinical trials. Addressing these issues will take collaboration between clinicians, researchers, policymakers, advocacy groups and the community.
