Development
ANZGOG’s focus is on multi-centre academic cooperative clinical trials. We have between 65 and 80 sites research ready to conduct a trial. We are able to support members to access networks in Asia, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom.
ANZGOG trials have been conducted in China and Saudi Arabia and such places as Korea, Japan, Singapore and India identified for possible sites.
Developing your research
We are always looking for studies that fill gaps in treatment, novel designs and ideas that meet an unmet need for patients.
The first step for your project with ANZGOG is to develop it to a level that will enable it to be supported for development and funding. ANZGOG staff and committee leaders will help you find the people to develop your project.
If you are experienced in concept design this can mean your project will go straight through to the Research Advisory Committee (with input from relevant Tumour Groups). If you are still working on design and feasibility, the relevant Tumour Working Group will assist you in preparing a detailed concept for the Research Advisory Committee assessment and adoption as an ANZGOG study.
During this process your study is assessed for where it fits in the ANZGOG Trials Matrix and if there are competitive studies on the horizon. We also review for:
- Feasibility
- Design
- Translation
- Health economics
- Quality of life
- Equity, diversity, and inclusion in research
- Funding opportunities

The Research Advisory Committee is a governance committee of the ANZGOG Board of Directors with delegated responsibility to select trials presented by members for ANZGOG adoption and operation.
Reporting to the Research Advisory Committee Chair and Deputy Chair are a range of research working groups and steering committees. Members are offered the opportunity to participate in research development, assist ANZGOG in its activities fostering new trials and take part in networking and collaborative activities.
Tumour Working Groups – Three groups consider the priority gaps in each gynaecological cancer tumour type with a view to catalysing new research ideas via Ideas Generation Workshops and other activities. These groups of skilled clinicians and researchers also work with investigators to develop their studies.
There are 3 Working Groups (View ANZGOG’s Organisation Governance Chart)
– ovarian
– uterine
– and cervical, vulvar and vaginal
Two priority research programs have Steering Committees:
ANZGOG’s members volunteer their time to foster and catalyse research in gynaecological cancers through their involvement in these committees and groups. Committee members and chairs/chairs elect roles are for two-year terms – expressions of interest are sent out to members when due.

Study Development Plan
Once your project is approved we plan the development pathway with you:
- document a timeline
- fill gaps in specialities needed to assist
- determine funder and arrange approach or grant application timelines
- apply staff to assist with grant applications
- protocol development or negotiation with pharma.
International or other collaborations may be required and the Development Plan will identify the timing for these, ANZGOG staff and leaders will assist to get the study onto meeting agendas and support adoption with international groups for multi-country recruitment.
