Book an STS Education Ambassador Presentation

ANZGOG is pleased to support requests from members for people with lived experience of gynaecological cancers to speak at professional development events.

Survivors Teaching Students (STS) Education Ambassadors are experienced volunteer presenters from within the STS program who are trained and supported to share their stories with a health professional audience.

STS Education Ambassador presentations are typically one-hour in duration and are led by a senior ANZGOG staff member who provides introductory information about ANZGOG and its key research activities, messages about the critical importance of funding for gynaecological cancer research, an outline of the benefits of ANZGOG membership, and an overview of the way ANZGOG engages with the community. The presentation then features two people with lived experience of gynaecological cancers who share their unique stories and includes opportunities for the audience to engage in a Q&A session with all presenters.

What is Survivors Teaching Students?

Survivors Teaching Students® is a ground-breaking volunteer program that brings ovarian and other gynaecological cancer survivors and caregivers into the classrooms of health professional students to teach them about women’s experiences with the diseases.

Survivors and caregivers are in a unique position to help students understand the lived experience of a gynaecological cancer, including the emotional impact. Our goal is to raise awareness of the symptoms of ovarian and gynaecological cancers amongst the next generation of health professionals, so the diseases are detected without delay. The program also provides opportunities for students to learn about the importance of good health communication and compassionate care.
