Over the last 20 years Women’s Cancer Foundation has raised millions of dollars to fund research into ovarian cancer, support for research nurses and gynaecological cancer studies.
Based in Melbourne, the Women’s Cancer Foundation and sister organisation Ovarian Cancer Institute amalgamated with ANZGOG on 31 December 2016.
Prior ANZGOG Chair, Professor Michael Quinn AM and Duncan McPherson OAM, have been outstanding fundraisers for the Foundation, along with many generous donors and bequestors.
Under ANZGOG the Women’s Cancer Foundation (WCF) will continue to raise funds for ovarian cancer research and other gynaecological cancers. The amalgamation will help maximise the efforts of both ANZGOG and WCF by reducing overheads and expanding fundraising nationally, with the result that greater funds will be available for research and related projects.
WCF fundraising activities include:
- ‘We Can Walk it Out’ – an annual walk in February for National Ovarian Cancer Month.
- Team Teal – a national fundraising campaign celebrating women harness racers, who wear teal pants and fundraise with support of state Harness Racing clubs.
- Community group fundraising events
